Sustainable engine technologies at Kramer Thinking of tomorrow today.

Sustainable construction machines thanks to low-emission technology: We at Kramer are also very well-positioned in terms of environmental friendliness, sustainability and low emissions. Operator safety and environmental protection are always the focus of product development – be it the cabin design or future-oriented electrotechnology.

While implementing the European emission directive for reduction of exhaust pollutants, the objective is that there be no compromise with regard to performance, service life or economic efciency of the machines, despite stricter regulations.

For implementing the directive, we are installing the latest engine technologies, which are equipped with various exhaust after-treatment systems.

European emissions directive Further reduction of the exhaust emission values

The strictest emission limit values for mobile working machines are applicable across Europe through the European Emission Standard (EU) 2016/1628 – stage V. In addition to the already previously required reduction of particulate matter (pm), nitrogen oxide, hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide, particle count limit values must also be adhered to now in the performance range or category 19 kW - 56 kW, with the exhaust level V. To be able to fulfl these requirements, different exhaust after-treatment systems are required, depending upon the engine. In this respect, Kramer has always focused on the customer and the machine performance, so that the quality standards are met at all times.

Exhaust after-treatment systems for fewer emissions

Diesel oxidation catalytic converter (DOC)

These days, catalytic converters are used to reduce emissions in many cars and trucks. The diesel oxidation catalytic converter has the same function. Without the movement of mechanical parts, it triggers chemical reactions which reduce the emissions

Diesel particulate flter (DPF)

The diesel particulate flter is used in connection with an oxidation catalytic converter. Nitrogen oxides, soot particles and unburnt hydrocarbons are caught in a porous honeycomb structure here. Due to the exothermic reaction in the oxidation catalytic converter, which is placed in front of the flter, the exhaust fumes are so strongly heated that the soot in the diesel particulate flter is burned. This process is also called regeneration.

Selective catalytic reduction (SCR)

SCR technology reduces nitrogen oxides in exhaust fumes. A chemical reaction is required for this purpose, which is triggered by a urea-water solution in the SCR catalytic converter: Ammonia reacts there with the nitrogen oxides to form the harmless products water and elementary nitrogen. With this solution, the emission of nitrogen oxides is reduced by up to 90 percent.

Completely emission-free at full performance

In addition to the diesel engines (depending on the model varying between exhaust level IIIA - V), Kramer also offers a 100% emission-free version, the 5055e. Thus, you can choose for yourself taking into consideration the application and need. The fully electrically-operated wheel loader 5055e works completely free of emissions, protecting the environment as well as the end user – and combines electro-mobility with a constant high payload, all-terrain mobility and the comfort of the classic Kramer wheel loader.
