Over 40 years of Kramer – J.G. Houseman & Sons
Ingerthorpe Moor Farm in the north of England is a traditional family business that has been combining dairy farming and arable farming for generations. The farm is run by brothers Richard and William Houseman. Their sons John, Oliver and Henry bring new enthusiasm, fresh ideas and modern approaches to the business – always with the aim of developing the farm and making it fit for the future. Over 600 cows, their own feed production and a high level of responsibility for animal welfare and the environment characterise the work here. A name that has been firmly associated with the farm for over four decades: Kramer.
The first Kramer arrived on the farm in the early 1980s – a 312 SE: compact, manoeuvrable, stable and suitable for many tasks, it was one of the first Kramer machines to find a home in the United Kingdom. When Kramer introduced telescopic wheel loaders in the early 1990s, the Housemans were once again pioneers: they were among the first farms in the country to use such a machine.
A special part of this story is David, an employee who has been working on the farm for over 45 years. He was one of the first people in the United Kingdom to drive a Kramer – proof of the long, close relationship between the farm and the manufacturer.
Today, two modern Kramer machines are in use at Ingerthorpe Moor Farm:
- KT407 – telehandler with 4 tonnes payload and 7 metres stacking height
- KL35.8T – versatile telescopic wheel loader with 3.5 tonnes tipping load
From mucking out and retrieving straw bales to loading the feed mixer, the Kramers take care of all the key tasks on the farm. Together, the two machines clock up around 4,000 operating hours per year and are replaced on average every three years – always with a new Kramer.
Why did the Housemans choose Kramer? The answer is simple:
- Quality you can rely on – even under heavy loads
- Unique steering and stability – precise working even in confined spaces
- Safety and comfort features – noticeable relief in everyday work
- Versatility – one machine for many tasks
An important part of the partnership is also the dealer Ripon Farm Services, which has been supplying and servicing the machines for many years. The relationship is characterised by trust, reliability and a shared passion for good technology.
Over four decades of cooperation between Kramer and J.G. Houseman & Sons show that when quality, experience and trust come together, partnerships are formed that last for generations.
