The mountains are calling! – A new wheel loader for the Jungfrau Railways
In early March, the moment had finally arrived: a delegation from Rohrer-Marti and Kramer handed over the new 5085 all-wheel-steer wheel loader to representatives of Jungfraubahnen. The wheel loader will primarily be used at the “Kleine Scheidegg” station—a unique work environment at an altitude of more than 2,000 meters above sea level.
On the morning of March 3, 2023, the new wheel loader was loaded onto a heavy-haul freight car belonging to the Wengernalpbahn (WAB) at Grindelwald station. Accompanied by representatives from Rohrer-Marti, Jungfraubahnen, and Kramer, the train transported the wheel loader on the freight car to Kleine Scheidegg. There, the machine was officially handed over to Jungfraubahnen, and the operators were able to familiarize themselves with the machine right away.
Jungfraubahnen is an existing Kramer customer. Two Kramer wheel loader models are already in use at the “Kleine Scheidegg” and “Eigergletscher” stations. The responsible Kramer sales partner, Rohrer-Marti, was once again able to convince the customer of the benefits of a Kramer wheel loader through expert consultation, including a machine demonstration. The 5085 from the 5 Series stands out for its ease of operation and functionality. The efficient and compact machine impresses with its dynamic all-wheel drive and the resulting maneuverability that characterizes all Kramer wheel loaders. In the sometimes confined operating areas, the steering angle of 2 x 40° assists the operator in maneuvering. The unobstructed cab provides a clear all-around view—a crucial factor, as the primary operating location for the wheel loader will be the “Kleine Scheidegg” station. There are many tourists in the area, and the operator must keep them in sight at all times.
We chose the Kramer wheel loader because we appreciate its ease of use and excellent visibility. In addition, Rohrer-Marti is an exemplary partner when it comes to customer service—they’re always quick to respond and flexible.
The wheel loader is in use almost every day. Its primary task is to load and unload incoming rail cars. The delivered goods are then distributed to nearby restaurants and hotels using the wheel loader. In addition, the wheel loader handles snow removal in the winter. During snow-free months, the wheel loader uses a sweeper to keep the platform clean—making it a true all-rounder. “We’re delighted that another Kramer wheel loader is in operation in the world-famous Jungfrau Region—an extraordinary location at over 2,000 meters above sea level. We’re convinced of the capabilities of the all-wheel-steered wheel loaders and the quality of Kramer products, and we wish our colleagues at Jungfraubahnen safe travels at all times,” summarizes Kenny Lienhardt, a sales representative at Rohrer-Marti.
